God chooses a people to gather and define as His very own. It went assumed by the Jews that the definition of this people was racial—all who descended physically from Abraham. But the inheritance of the people of God is determined by faith, not bloodline. This is clear in Jesus’ ministry and Paul clarifies it further. Nevertheless, God has a continuing purpose for the descendants of Abraham. There is a hope that the story will end with all Israel coming home to God. There is a promise that the people of God will be defined from every race and nation. We, in Christ, are the people of God.
