Like Him We Rise

Like Him We Rise - Easter Sunday - Tim McConnell

Apr. 5

"“Made like Him, like Him we rise.” Every Easter we sing that. Do you know what it means? It means we share in the resurrection life of Jesus if we put our faith in him. Jesus lived, and died, and rose again. What it truly means to believe in Christ is that you find yourself “in Christ.” You are Jesus are united. You die. You die to selfishness and sin and self-centered pursuits of self-actualization. Baptism remains a symbol of this, when performed as immersion. You are subject to death. But you can go down into death by giving your life to Christ, and then when you come up out of the water, when you step forward in faith, when you believe in Jesus Christ, you rise up with as much power as Christ rising from the grave on Easter morning. All is new. The old is gone. “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20. Does that sound tragic? It is on Friday. It is on Saturday. But Sunday morning! Your whole life is new again. "
