Freedom
Freedom – Keep Freedom Free
- Claire Berger
Sep. 4
People don’t actually like others to be free. That’s the hard truth of it. People prefer to be in control of others. The freedom found in Jesus Christ is an offense to those who seek to hold control over others. Sometimes we have to defend Christian freedom from our own tendency to make rules and exercise controls. What does a community of grace truly look like? It isn’t libertine. We are bound by love for God and love for neighbor, but this is a liberating constraint. It frees us to make a bigger difference in the world than we ever imagined. Paul wanted to help the poor; so the instruction to do it was not at all infringing on his freedom. God’s ways are free.
