Does grace run out? Is there a bottom to God’s grace? When we hit rock bottom, we only find that God is still beneath us lifting us up. Prayer reaches the Father’s ears. The Spirit inflates us and we rise from the depths. How can it be that God knows these darkened depths? Jesus has been lower still. Jonah’s journey is a parable of Jesus. When Pharisees demanded a sign from Jesus to certify His authority, Jesus said there would be no sign but the Sign of Jonah. (Matthew 12:38-41) Something greater than Jonah is here.
