Trust God

People die for one another all the time. A Police Officer kisses their family each day knowing they might not come home. But this “dying for” is even bigger. “Huper hemon” is “on our behalf” or “in our place” even. Jesus didn’t just step in front of the bullet or bravely run into the burning building, Jesus stood in for us to receive in himself a death that we duly deserved. And He did this for us while we were still His enemies. The substitutionary atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ the Son of God is the only way our sins could be forgiven and the consequence of death could be removed, opening up the vista of new life.
